Joanne Weinman, M.A., M.Ac.
Licensed Acupuncturist (L. Ac.)
Diplomate in Acupuncture (Dipl. Ac.)

I have a Masters in Acupuncture (over 2600 hours of study) from the nationally recognized Tai Sophia Institute. I am licensed by the Virginia Department of Medical Professions and received the Diplomate in Acupuncture credential by passing the national certification board exams.

I am a general practitioner of acupuncture and have developed a specialized concentration in treating clients with the following key issues:

pain issues throughout the body including fibromyalgia and myofacial pain syndromes

sleep issues including chronic fatigue syndrome

women’s life cycle health issues including menstrual pain and irregularities; menopausal symptoms

fertility issues for women and men

smoking or other addictions that you want to quit

In addition to providing acupuncture for these specific issues, I provide general wellness
and allergy symptom management. Additionally, I have a special certification in the use of acupuncture detoxification methods to help people give up substance addictions including the TOBACUFREE™ certification for smoking cessation. Also, I am member of the Acupuncture Society of Virginia.

This is a second career for me. Having enjoyed the many benefits of acupuncture myself, I resolved to share with others my growth in wellness and well being by becoming an acupuncturist. People of diverse backgrounds who want to achieve and maintain a healthful and more balanced lifestyle are welcomed to my practice. Prior to becoming an acupuncturist, I enjoyed more than 20 years career experience in the field of health in the U.S. and around the world grounded in 29 years practicing meditation. Now I use my skills to partner with clients who are seeking better health and a more balanced, centered lifestyle.

Although I was born and raised in upstate New York, I subsequently moved to North Central Florida and lived there for 14 years. During my time there, I completed my undergraduate degree and first Masters degree. I moved to northern Virginia in 1988 after returning to the U.S. from living and working in central Africa where I worked in the areas of maternal and child health, women’s health, and HIV/AIDS prevention and education for various organizations including the U.S. Agency for International Development and the Centers for Disease Control.

If you would like to learn how you can benefit from acupuncture, you are invited to call me. I am excited to offer the power of relationship centered healing to my clients. Through my experience as both a client and as a practitioner, I have experienced the tremendous results of acupuncture treatment.
