"The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest clients in the
care of the human frame, in diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease"
-Thomas Edison
Acupuncture is a safe, effective, drug-free therapy that addresses a wide variety of ailments and problems. It works by stimulating the body's natural tendency to heal itself. This system of medicine takes into account the marvelous complexity and individuality of each unique person and treats him/her on every level: body, mind and spirit, as a unified, holistic being. Acupuncture works preventively and curatively by engaging the person's own natural healing abilities. Even the side-effects of relaxation and a general sense of well-being are great!
Because of its relatively low cost, noninvasive nature, and efficacy, acupuncture is a popular form of complementary care. In this gentle form of therapy (the needles are the width of about two human hairs), each treatment is designed uniquely to address the issues experienced specifically by that individual. A recent survey of people who received regular acupuncture conducted by C. Cassidy, Ph.D., found the following: they see their doctors less; they use fewer medications; and, over two-thirds of those reported they were able to avoid surgery.
In other reports, clients committed to lifestyles focused on wellness who receive ongoing acupuncture treatment for maintenance and health promotion often experience some or all of the following:
